National Night Out - 2010

On the evening of October 5th, 2010, a half-dozen members of the Village Creek Neighborhood Association trooped up to the pavilion in Shawnee Park and began warming up hot dogs and cooling down lemonade.  Pretty soon all of their neighbors began showing up to share in the food, fun and festivities.

Officer David Waddell, our own Neighborhood Police Officer, was there with some of his fellow officers, along with representatives of other City of Plano departments, such as property standards and community planning.

Many thanks to the Morales ladies, who brought water balloons, games and prizes.  They kept the younger ones challenged as well as entertained, and everyone was a winner (some several times over!).

We went through about 140 hot dogs & buns, several big bags of chips, a few dozen cookies and 3-4 gallons of lemonade, so I hope no one went home hungry.  I know I didn't.  It was good to see some old faces and to meet some new ones as well.  Hope to see you all again at future meetings and projects.

Let the Games Begin!

A big bag of water balloons and a box of prizes wait in readiness for the children's games to begin.

Playing "Toss" makes you thirsty!

One of the neighborhood youngsters takes a break from the games to renew his energy with some lemonade.

"Keep those hot dogs comin'!"

"Chefs" Craig Jacobs and John Wilson tend the boiling pots and make sure we don't run out of hot dogs.

"I've got the dogs. You grab the water."

A steady stream of hungry neighbors kept the table busy.
