The Renaming of Shawnee Park
Has been postponed, if not outright stopped!
This evening, in it's regularly scheduled Council Meeting, the Plano City Council voted unanimously to rescind the ordinance that gave the Plano Park Board the authority to name or re-name any city park or structure. This effectively prevents the Park Board from re-naming Shawnee Park to anything else. While this is good news for us at this time, it means that the people who originally wanted Shawnee Park re-named will now have to bring it before the whole city council. We will need to keep our eye on this to see if it comes up. If it does, we'll let every one know so we can oppose it.
