VILLAGE
CREEK NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
Minutes
of the General Meeting held February 20, 2003
The meeting was called
to order at 7:00 pm in the Planning Department Presentation Room, City Hall,
Plano, Texas. There were 11 members
present.
Crime Watch
information was presented by Neighborhood Police Officer Alicia Nors and
specific offenses and calls for assistance were discussed.
Vicki Verinder
presented an overview of the proposed Village Creek Neighborhood Association
Bylaws, which were passed with no opposing vote.
The first order of business under the new bylaws was the election of
officers. The following members
were nominated:
President: Craig
Jacobs
Vice-President: James
Edwards
Secretary/Treasurer: Vicki
Verinder
Chair Person: Doug Jacobs
Chair Person: David Dulin
All nominations were
approved by acclimation of the quorum present.
The next meeting of
Board of Directors and a general meeting of the Crime Watch was announced for
March, 13, 2003 at 7:00 pm in the Planning Department Presentation Room, City
Hall, Plano, Texas.
Future dates which involved
the Association were then discussed. April
5 is the Great American Cleanup, usually sponsored by Keep Plano Beautiful.
It was decided that the Association will participate and that more
information will be made available at the next meeting.
Alicia was contacted by the Sunrise Rotary Club to inquire if we wanted
their assistance for this event. It
was recommended that James Edwards
be contacted on this matter. It was
announced that National Night Out will be on August 5, 2003 and that we will
plan to participate with the other 5 neighborhood groups as we did last year.
The floor was opened
by President Jacobs for a general discussion on any problems within the
neighborhood. Linda Doyle asked if
the city would be enforcing code standards more strictly than in the past.
Craig Jacobs said he attended the city-sponsored Roundtable for East
Plano and that a new code enforcer, Rodney Knowles,
has been hired for our area. However,
due to the city hiring freeze, he is the only one for the east side and cannot
inspect as many properties as has been done in the past.
The problem with abandoned shopping carts left in the neighborhood was
also brought up. Officer Nors said
that the Carnival manager has been very cooperative. She recommended the following contacts be used for
complaints:
Fiesta: Don Bersterman,
972-881-3211
Carnival: John Wick,
972-578-1009
Changes to the park
were discussed next. The project
engineer is Bill Dakin and can be contacted at his city office for any
questions: 972-974-7271.
Officer Alicia Nors
was elected an Honorable Member of the Association by acclimation.
The meeting was
adjourned at 8:05 pm.
Respectfully submitted
Vicki Verinder,
Secretary
