VILLAGE CREEK
NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
Minutes of the General
Meeting held September 11, 2003
The
meeting was called to order by President Craig Jacobs at 7:06 pm in the
Planning and Zoning Conference Room, City Hall, Plano, Texas. There were 7 members in attendance. Craig presented an agenda for the meeting
which was discussed and approved.
Secretary/Treasurer
Vicki Verinder read the minutes of the last meeting which were amended and
approved. She also gave the treasurer's
report. Last month's balance was
$285.40. National Night Out revenue was
$347.00 so the account has $632.40 with no outstanding expenses.
Vice
President James Edwards told us about a meeting with city representatives and a
Fiesta grocery store manager about the grocery cart problem. It is a class 3 misdemeanor to remove a cart
from the parking lot but the stores are not interested in pursuing the missing
carts. The manager said that they do a
once a week cart pickup in the neighborhood and will increase it to 4 times a
week and put up signs in the store and parking lot. We discussed that lots of other neighborhoods have this problem
in Plano, Texas and around the country.
Many suggestions were talked about.
James volunteered to find what need to be done to get a new city code on
the books. The excess water runoff from
the stores' yard sprinklers was also mentioned.
James
suggested a project for “Make A Difference Day” this year. The 8 new houses on Ave. P. are in need of
some sidewalk grass cleanup and thought that would be a good way to introduce
VCNA to the new neighbors. We discussed
having a small welcome basket, etc. An
idea that we should do the welcome basket for all new residents was suggested
but we do not know how to get a list of people that have recently moved in
(owners and renters). We tabled this
until next month when NPO Alecia Nors can be contacted.
The
continuing traffic problem around Barron School was discussed.
Election
of Officers for the next year was then held with the following results:
President:
Craig Jacobs
Vice
President: James Edwards
Secretary/Treasurer:
Vicki Verinder
Chair
Person: Jan Thatcher
Chair
Person: Linda Doyle
Officer
Nors was not present so there was no crime watch report. The city is thinking about putting up a “Top
5 Code Violators” list which we all agreed with.
James
then showed us a sample of his painting of the WEB URL address on the
neighborhood street signs and they looked good. James will continue working on these.
Two
of our alert signs (meeting and bulk trash pickup) have been stolen so we are
looking at anchoring them more securely in the ground.
The
meeting was adjourned at 8:03 pm.
Respectfully
submitted,
Vicki
Verinder, Secretary/Treasurer
