VILLAGE CREEK
NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
Minutes of the General
Meeting held October 9, 2003
The
meeting was called to order by Vice President James Edwards at 7:02 pm in the
Planning and Zoning Conference Room, City Hall, Plano, Texas. There were 7 members in attendance. James presented an agenda for the meeting
which was discussed and approved.
Secretary/Treasurer
Vicki Verinder read the minutes of the last meeting which were approved. She also gave the treasurer's report. The account has $632.40 with no outstanding
expenses. There was correspondence from
Efficient Attic Systems inquiring about sponsoring the association
newsletter. It was passed to Doug
Jacobs for follow-up. Our newsletter
expenses were estimated at $36 copying costs for a single page and $265 first
class postage. We might be able to save
postage using bulk rate mailing or postcards.
NPO
Alicia Nors was not present so there was no crime report.
James
would like to see us appoint a documentarian (or a documentation committee) to
photograph events, neighborhood problems (grocery carts) and someone that can
create Powerpoint slideshows for City Council presentations.
The
Landscape project was discussed. We
decided to meet on Make a Difference Day (10/25) at Craig Jacob's or Vicki
Verinder's house at 8:30 for the project.
James said he would contact Alicia and Joanne Stahl to see if she would
provide plants.
James
contacted the city to have the remaining “alert' signs removed from the sign
posts. He will continue with the URL
painting on these and the ones that have already been removed.
James
presented a list of his ideas to go into a proposal package to be presented to
the city. Areas included:
Property standards
Issues for the Park Department
Traffic problems on Parker and
Ave. P
Neighborhood assistance for low
income
Issues for the Police Department
Trash restricting barricades
James
wants the other association members to record their ideas on the VCNA web
forum. As regards the shopping carts
issue, James is to meet with our city council representative Shep Stahl and
discuss our concerns. We voted to
approve James pursuing with city staff new codes for the shopping carts and for tree growth around street lights
in the neighborhood. All other proposal
ideas were tabled until another meeting.
An
annual planning session will be the topic for the next association meeting in
November. Doug will put an announcement
on the web site.
We
talked about the continuing traffic problems around Barron School. It was requested to have the meeting agenda
published on the web site. We voted to
not have a meeting in December but pick back up in January.
The
meeting was adjourned at 8:14 pm.
Respectfully
submitted,
Vicki
Verinder, Secretary/Treasurer
