VILLAGE CREEK NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

Minutes of the General Meeting held April 8, 2004

The meeting was called to order by President Craig Jacobs at 7:06 pm in the Planning and Zoning Conference Room, City Hall, Plano, Texas.  There were 8 members in attendance.  Craig presented an agenda for the meeting which was discussed.  An amendment to the agenda to add a correspondence item was moved and approved then the remainder of the agenda approved.

The first item was to be a presentation by Steve Stultz, who could not make the meeting.  Alicia Nors, NPO, read his email response to the traffic items that were presented last month.  Included, among other items, were:

1. Barron School: the no parking signs have been posted and Officer Nors is doing enforcement.

2. Parker Rd. widening: the design will be started by October of this year and construction is slated to begin October 2005.

3. Light cycles on Parker Rd. and P Ave.: not specifically answered.

4. Parker Rd. @ Hwy. 75 jug handles: still under study.

5. All items specific to Hwy. 75 or Hwy 190: these have been forwarded to TxDOT or NTTA.

Secretary/Treasurer Vicki Verinder read the minutes of the last meeting which were approved.  She also gave the treasurer's report.  The account has $632.40 with an expense item to be paid of $26.71 for last Curb Appeal project.

Committee Reports:

Shopping Carts: A copy of the draft ordinance was discussed by Alicia Nors.  A meeting with the store owners will be held soon for input.

Great American Cleanup: 21 shopping carts were picked up and sent to the city dump.  Judge Peyton’s volunteers and the Sunrise Rotary assisted with general trash pickup but there was not as much trash this year as in the past.  A total of 34 volunteers attended.

Curb Appeal: Work was done on the Sherwood house.  The association would like to do another house around mid to late May (repairs, painting caulking, etc.).  The Sunrise Rotary also would like to help and is also interested in helping with neighborhood beautification like the plantings for the Curb Appeal project.  Garrison Gardens will also help out.

An Official Curb Appeal List was started:

3353 Sherwood

1700 Felix

1700 Lucas Terrace (was picked as next project – voted and approved)

Members are encouraged to send houses that qualify for this project to James Edwards or Craig Jacobs.

Parker Rd. Beautification: The city will not allow us to do this project due to the widening of Parker Rd.  Jeff Swartz, Park and Recreation Maintenance, suggested looking at the Shawnee Park entrance on Parker Rd. as a possible site.

Neighborhood Issues:

Next meeting will be a brainstorming of parks and maintenance.  Members are encouraged to bring issues, questions and possible solutions to discuss.  If a speaker can be obtained, the meeting will begin 30 minutes earlier (6:30 pm).

There was no new business.

Officer Nors talked about crime watch stats and traffic problem areas.

A second work day on the Sherwood house was designated for May 22 at 8 am.

Correspondence was received from a stonewall vendor and passed to Craig Jacobs.

Next meeting will be May 13th, 2004.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:35 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Vicki Verinder, Secretary/Treasurer
