VILLAGE CREEK NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

Minutes of the General Meeting held April 14, 2005

The meeting was called to order by President Craig Jacobs at 7:10 pm in the Building Inspection Conference Room, City Hall, Plano, Texas.  There were 6 members in attendance.

The agenda was distributed, discussed and approved.  Secretary/Treasurer Vicki Verinder noted that the last meeting (March 10, 2005) did not achieve a quorum so no business was transacted.  She also gave the treasurer's report.  The account has $605.69 with no outstanding expenses.

Old Business:

Vice President James Edwards told the group that he was trying to locate the old Wyatt North Neighbors Association bank account and was working to have the account closed and the funds transferred to our account.

James also related that the Great American Cleanup went very well.  Around 80 kids and 15 Rotary Club members showed up and cleaned streets, alleys, the railroad tracks, park areas and the water trench next to the bowling alley.  He said the Rotary Club is looking for projects (house painting, repairs, etc.) in our area and to contact him if we knew of anyone that needed those services.  Craig will email the Rotary and Barron School to thank them for their participation.

New Business:

A suggestion was made to put the program title on our meeting signs for advertisement.  Also, it was noted that the Bulk Trash pickup is the 4th week each month and that signs should be up no earlier than Sundays and taken down on Tuesdays of that week.

The following programs for our regular monthly meetings was approved:

May 12: Identity theft.

June 9: Brainstorm ideas to present to the traffic department for next month’s meeting.

July 14: Invite traffic department representative to discuss our concerns and ideas.  Also, newsletter articles covering National Night Out and annual elections are due.

August 2: National Night Out – no meeting.  Craig will secure the pavilion at Shawnee Park.  We will have only our association gathering this year.

September 8: Elections and brainstorm ideas to present to parks department for next month’s meeting.

October 13: Invite parks department representative to discuss our concerns and ideas.

November 10: Review 2005 activities and do preliminary plans for 2006.  Also, newsletter articles due.

December: No meeting (holidays).

We discussed the following projects to be done during 2005:

1. Numbering the alley fences as required by city statute.  James will see if the city could find the project with grant money.  We also discussed getting the Scouts and John Peyton’s people involved.

2. Backfill areas of Schell Park.  James knows what needs to be done there.

3. Curb Appeal project for Make a Difference Day

4. A second curb appeal project

Officer Nors has been promoted to Sergeant and is no longer our NPO.  The police department will assign another officer to our area soon.  No crime report was given.

Craig will also check on the reservation of our meeting room and signs pointing it out to attendees.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Vicki Verinder, Secretary/Treasurer
