VILLAGE CREEK NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

Minutes of the General Meeting held May 12, 2005

The meeting was called to order by President Craig Jacobs at 7:08 pm in the Building Inspection Conference Room, City Hall, Plano, Texas. There were 9 members in attendance and 1 guest.

The agenda was distributed, discussed and approved.

Officer Nors introduced our guest, Detective Jerry Minton from the Plano Police Department who gave a very valuable presentation on identity theft and how easy it is for someone to obtain your vital information. He suggested getting spyware detection programs like Spybot, Spy Sweeper and Ad-Aware for your PCs. He also told the group that as of June 1, you can get a copy of your credit report free once a year from the 3 credit reporting companies: Experian (located on Central in Allen), TransUnion and Equifax. By requesting one every 4 months from different companies, you can get 3 per year. Jerry also suggested that all papers with any identifying information be cross shredded. These shredders can be obtained from stores like Office Max, Office Depot, etc.

Secretary/Treasurer Vicki Verinder gave the treasurer's report. The account has $605.69 with no outstanding expenses. She also read the minutes of the last meeting, where were approved.

Old Business:

Vice President James Edwards reported that no headway had been made in locating the other bank account or in contacts with property standards. He will have more news next month.

John Wilson attended the Crime Watch Coordinator’s Meeting and signed us up for another year.

New Business:

There was none.

Comments:

Alan Upchurch, City Engineer of Plano, will describe the widening of Parker Road at next month’s meeting (June 9). This will tie in with our scheduled topic of brainstorming on traffic problems and solutions.

The next City Roundtable Meeting is being held May 19 and James Edwards is planning on going. Anyone else interested should contact him.

The National Night Out letter requesting gift certificate donations will be sent out to Costco, Sams, WalMart and other stores the month by Vicki Verinder.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Vicki Verinder, Secretary/Treasurer
