VILLAGE CREEK NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION

Minutes of the General Meeting held June 9, 2005

The meeting was called to order by President Craig Jacobs at 7:07 pm in the Building Inspection Conference Room, City Hall, Plano, Texas.  There were 7 members in attendance and 1 guest.

The agenda was distributed, discussed and approved.

Our guest, Alan Upchurch, City Engineer, then presented the city’s preliminary plans for widening Parker Road between K Ave. and Raton St.  It will require removing all 4 lanes of Parker (one or 2 at a time) and replacing with 6 lanes.  There will be extensions to existing left turn lanes and dedicated right turn lanes are being considered.  Existing water lines will be replaced but not drainage. The utility poles that run along Parker will be set back but there are no plans to move the lines underground.  The parking lot at Barron School is being moved so the widening will not affect staff parking there.  Alan brought a map of the proposed roadway and all of us reviewed it.  The Central and Parker interchange will eventually be changed to a single point urban interchange within the current intersection space to relieve the current problems.  Central will have HOV lanes from LBJ to Bethany which will help with congestion at Parker.  Plans for Central will be presented to our association before construction.  It was suggested that we ask the city about putting neighborhood monument markers in the boulevard area of the newly constructed Parker Rd.

Since we did not have last meeting’s minutes printed, they were approved with the provision that any changes be presented at the next meeting.  Vicki Verinder gave the treasury report.  There was no activity and the balance is $605.69.

We then had a brainstorming session on other traffic concerns, most of which were covered by Alan’s presentation.  It was suggested to contact the NTTA about the U-Turn sign on east bound Bush service road before Alma and see if it could be set back further from the intersection.  We also would like to get a conceptual design of the Central/Parker interchange from Alan or TxDOT.

There has been no news on our new NPO and it was suggested that Alicia be contacted for an update.

We discussed National Night Out which is August 2 this year.  Donation requests are to be made to the area stores for gift certificates.  We will use these for hotdogs, Gatoraid, water and cookies.  We will try to get the jumpball room from our neighbors on Tarkio like last year.  Craig and Doug will provide the propane burner and pot to boil the hot dogs in.  Also, a newsletter will go out before the event and articles are due at the next meeting (July 14).

John Wilson said there was no crime watch report and that things had been really slow.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:26 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Vicki Verinder, Secretary/Treasurer
