VILLAGE CREEK NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
Minutes of the General Meeting held January 12, 2006
The meeting was called to order by President Craig Jacobs at 7:05 pm in the Building Inspection Conference Room, City Hall, Plano, Texas. There were 9 members in attendance and 2 guests.
The agenda was distributed, discussed and approved with one addition.
Gene Verinder read the minutes of the last meeting, which were approved. Vicki Verinder gave the treasury report: the account balance is $605.69 and there was no activity.
We presented our previous NPO, Alicia Nors, a plaque (including shopping cart) honoring her dedicated work with the association. She also received a beautiful pen and wood case. They were all made by Linda Doyle. Our current NPO, David Waddell, was voted a member of the association.
Vice President James Edwards was to have discussed what he found out from the Parks department on several issues we discussed in November but he was not present. We reviewed what had been discussed: dogs not on leashes, Frisbee golf player annoyances, trash, signs and maintenance. Craig will email us James’ information after calling him. Gene will contact the local Frisbee club and mention our concerns. Derek Tse mentioned the volleyball court needed sand and trash removal. Rosemary Petrich and Erica Moeller mentioned the broken glass on the sidewalks in the park.
Information on several follow-up items were discussed. Traffic engineers are studying the 25 mph speed limit allowed in residential areas by state law and will make a presentation to the city council. We are still pursuing the problem with the U-turn only sign on the east bound service road of Bush before Alma being too close to the intersection. Officers Waddell and Nors thought it is in Richardson’s jurisdiction. Gene Verinder will pursue it and the feasibility of 2 left turn lanes at that location with Richardson traffic engineers. Several trees have been removed from the median of Parker this week, and will be replanted elsewhere. This probably signals that the widening project has started. Another traffic problem was mentioned by John Wilson. U-turn traffic on east bound Parker at Archerwood to go west bound is not safe and causes backups.
We set February’s meeting date as a deadline to have in articles for the newsletter. Topics will include 1) an introduction of our new NPO, 2) the Parker widening, 3) neighborhood projects and 4) a calendar of events.
We were presented an award by the city for our participation in the National Night Out 2005. Officer Waddell told us that they have recovered most of the property and have identified suspects in the burglaries he mention at November’s meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:59 pm.
