VILLAGE CREEK NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
Minutes of the General Meeting held September 11th, 2008
The meeting was called to order by President Gene Verinder at 7:04 pm in the Building Inspection Conference Room, City Hall, Plano, Texas. There were 6 members in attendance and a guest – Monique Coleman.
The agenda was reviewed and approved. The minutes of the last meeting were approved and the treasury report was read and approved. The treasury has $605.69.
Old Business: We completed our planning for National Night Out to be held October 7th at Shawnee Park Pavilion. Planning for the newsletter was also completed. We will request assistance from Judge Peyton to assist with distribution.
New Business:
The group voted to move elections to our regular November meeting (11/13/2008).
We also discussed the prospect of putting street addresses in the alleys as required by city ordinance. Officer Waddell said it would really help the police to have those available.
We then had a discussion with Monique on putting together a neighborhood membership campaign. This would include a questionnaire to determine the needs of the residents with a follow up block party. The city will handle mailing out the questions and receiving back the answers. Monique would like to solicit bilingual support first before the block party event. We plan to follow this item up in future meetings.
Current Projects: None in progress.
Future projects: none mentioned.
Committee Reports:
1) Parker Road Widening: left turn on west bound Parker at Ave. K was mentioned as being too short. Officer Waddell commented that all directions at that intersection have too much traffic and that changing the timing one way will cause congestion in other directions.
2) Parker Road / US 75 Interchange Presentation: It has now started and will present challenges of its own to traffic flow.
Officer Waddell said our neighborhood had 2 home burglaries recently and the police were conducting follow up investigations on both.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:51 pm.
Respectively submitted,
Vicki Verinder, Secretary/Treasurer
